Calling it quits for the night. Man the gold details has really bogged down my progress. The final touches of white and red should go a lot quicker. I've ended up painting right out of the pot and painting the gold on thick. I don't want to have to do layers with watered down coats. I've still got all the gold trim to do on the shields yet as well. I'm starting to think that I won't be dipping until next weekend. No worries though, every night I chip away at getting the block of saurus painted.
How are you doing your gold? I usually have great success painting the gold on and doing a chestnut or brown ink and then highlighting with another drybrush coat of a lighter color.
ReplyDeleteI went with shinning gold because I figured it would still stand out after the dip. I had started out painting it water down as I normally do. I found that it went on too thin and required multiple coats. Now I'm ashamedly painting right out of the pot. Its going on a lot quicker now though.
ReplyDeleteNot really planning to do a highlight after the mat spray. I figure I'll spend some more time doing up the bases with a nice flock and the Army Painter tufts I figure the unit will look just fine for the table top.
